About the Hotel Reisen Stockholm

The Hotel Reisen has been a hotel in the historic Gamla Stan, or Stockholm Old Town, since the 1800s, with the building’s foundation dating back to the early 1600s. The hotel sits right along the Old Town east waterfront

This is a 5 star hotel that is part of the Hyatt Unbound Collection, which is known for luxury, boutique hotels around the world.

Hotel Reisen Amenities

Aside from the fantastic location, the First Hotel Reisen also has a number of wonderful amenities on site.

Hotel Reisen Spa

The best of the hotel amenities is hands down the Nordic Spa. The spa includes a dry sauna, cold plunge pool and relaxation room. The pool temperature is actually quite comfortable, especially after time in the hot sauna.  Inside the spa there are towels, showers, and infused water.  Outside the spa you will find the 24 hour Hôtel Reisen gym.

Dining and Drinks

On the main floor of the hotel there is Restaurant Reiss and Bar Brahe.  Restaurant Reiss is where you will find the breakfast buffet.  If it is included in the price of your stay, you will not be disappointed.  The buffet has a huge spread including traditional Swedish foods and Scandinavian pastries like cardamom and cinnamon buns.

The Bar Brahe is a small jazz bar with speakeasy vibes, tucked in the back of the first floor.  You’ll find live music on Thursdays and Fridays. The bar is temporarily closed for the remainder of the 2025 summer, but will be open again in the fall.

The rooms

There are a mix of room sizes and suites available. The 2-twin room was quite comfortable and spacious. I also really appreciated the large amenity box in the room which beyond the basics of shower caps and ear plugs included a dental kit, shaving kit, and sanitary napkins and tampons.

For me however, the best part of the room was probably the bathroom. This room had the largest amount of counter space and easily accessible storage I think I’ve ever seen in a standard room. And my favorite thing: robes and slippers.

Hotel Reisen Service

The staff at the hotel were truly wonderful.  I had a small issue with my room the morning after I arrived, and following my morning tour and turndown service, I returned to find a lovely fruit platter with candy and a small bottle of bubbles.  Beyond that they were also happy to help answer my questions about the city, even looking up some websites to try to find the answers. The breakfast staff was also extremely friendly during my stay.

The location

The Hotel Reisen is centrally located in Gamla Stan (Old Town).  From the hotel you can get just about anywhere in the city in a short amount of time.  It is only a 5 minute walk north to the Royal Palace, or south to the Slussen Ferry Terminal to get to the museum district.  You can also walk 10 minutes south across the bridge to Sodermalm, one of the most lively and popular neighborhoods in Stockholm.  And of course, there is plenty of public transportation in the form of buses and subways nearby.

For food near the hotel, stop by Fika and Wine for lunch or dinner.  If you walk further through the Old Town, visit Café Schweizer for delicious pastries or lunch.

Just outside the nearby ferry terminal is the pickup location for the Stockholm Golf Cart Tour.  You can read my review of the private golf cart tour here

Where to book the Hotel Reisen

You can of course book directly through Hyatt, however I find you’ll get better prices through the sites below.

However, if you happen to have my favorite beginner travel card, you can use your points to book with Hyatt hotels.  This hotel starts at only 15,000 points a night if you book out far enough.
