About The Crown Hotel Blockley
The Crown Hotel is a historic 16th century inn located in the heart of the Cotswolds. It is a small cozy inn that provides country charm and idyllic scenery. Between the exposed wood beams, the fireplace in the lobby and the neighborhood pub, you really get the full English countryside experience.
The Cotswolds Crown Hotel Amenities
There isn’t much that the Crown inn offers by way of amenities. If you have a car, which is very likely, there is parking in the back of the hotel. The smaller the car the better, to get up and down the narrow winding driveway.
There are a few outdoor seating areas to enjoy when the weather is nice. Inside the hotel, just past the reception is a very nice shared library space. Here you’ll find comfortable leather chairs to read in, or enjoy games with friends or family.
The hotel also has a pub that opens around midday for lunch. There is pool table available in the pub for patrons to enjoy.

Dining & Drinks
The Crown Hotel features a hotel restaurant and a pub. Breakfast is included with the price of the stay. This includes a small continental breakfast (toast, yogurt, cereal) and a full English Breakfast (eggs, beans, sausage, “bacon” (different from North American bacon), hash browns and mushrooms. You can have as much or as little as you want. Breakfast is available from 800 – 930 am.
The Crown Hotel Blockley restaurant is also open for dinner. I did not visit the restaurant so I’m not sure if the menu varies at all from the pub menu.
At the front of the hotel, along the street level, is the pub. Naturally the pub has a bar to order drinks, but there’s a full dinner menu as well. The shepherd’s pie at the Crown Hotel Pub is quite tasty.
During the off season (winter) the village is pretty quiet, so there’s a good chance the pub will close as early as 930 pm.
Across the village (about a 6-7 minute walk) there is one other pub where you can enjoy a meal or drinks. This one appears to stay open a little later than the pub at the Crown Hotel Blockley.

The rooms
The Crown Hotel has eight different room types (with varying bed sizes) available to fit all parties and budgets.
Traveling alone? You can get a twin room for as low as $60 a night with breakfast (depending on the date and booking site).
They also have rooms with two twins, double beds, and “family” rooms that include a sleeper sofa. For larger families or groups that intend to stay longer, there is also an apartment. This room is complete with two bedrooms, a small kitchen, and a washer.
The decor hasn’t been updated in awhile, so don’t expect a modern interior. But, the rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable.

Service at the Crown Hotel Blockley
This is a small family run hotel, and that is reflected in the service. You are greeted with a smile from the moment you check in, which continues through your morning breakfasts and until you check out.
The Crown Hotel Cotswolds location
The Crown Hotel is a short walk from the Blockley village center. Blockley itself is very small. The only commerce in Blockley is the hotel (with pub), the other pub across the village, and the Blockley Café, a cafe/small grocery store. Otherwise it is very quiet. You can easily walk everywhere in town.
The village of Blockley however is pretty centrally located among popular Cotswolds villages. Chipping Campden is a short 10 minute drive north. Broadway is about 15 minutes northwest. To the south you can find Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Norton, Stow on the Wold and many others.
The lavender fields that bloom in the summer are also just a short drive west near Snowshill.
Review of The Crown Hotel
I had a really good experience staying at The Crown Hotel Blockley. I loved being upstairs in the attic room because it was a huge space and I was able to see the hills in the distance.
The location is probably my least favorite thing about the hotel. There’s really nothing going on in Blockley. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very charming little village, and the scenery is lovely, but there’s not a lot to keep you entertained. If you’re looking for somewhere quiet to unwind for a few days, this is perfect.
For me, the cost made up for the location. It’s hard to beat paying just over $60 a night and not having to worry if the place is sketchy. And you get a free meal included as well.
If you don’t mind driving to the other villages in order to save some money, this is an ideal place to stay in the Cotswolds.
Where to book The Crown Hotel in Blockley
You can of course book directly through the Chapter Hotels website, but I guarantee you’ll get better prices through the sites below. For example, I stayed in January of 2026, booked 3-4 weeks in advance and paid $63/night for 3 nights (including breakfast and taxes) through Booking.com.
