There are a few different options for Krabi sunset tours, but there is one that stands out from the rest as a can’t miss tour.

How to pick which of the Krabi sunset tours is best for you
There are a number of different Krabi sunset tours from Ao Nang and Railay of varying cost and experience. You can find Krabi island tours available with longtail boats, speed boats, junk boats and more.
I will never recommend doing a speed boat tour in Krabi. They are extremely cramped, and since you’re inside the cabin you get limited views out of the boat. Longtail boats are a much better experience than speed boats. If you’re comparing a speed boat tour, to a longboat tour I would pick the longboat every single time. But the junk boats will be the largest option and something that feels very unique to southeast Asia.
There are a variety of Krabi boat tours that include island hopping Krabi. There are tours for the Hong Islands, 7 islands cruises, and 4 islands cruises. I loved visiting the Hong Islands, but I would recommend doing that as a separate daytime tour. Read The Best of Krabi, Thailand: Hong Islands Tour
If you are looking for a Phi Phi Island tour, those are only going to be available during the day, unless you find a private tour option.

The best Krabi Sunset Tours: Krabi Sunset Cruises
There is one true stand out for Krabi Thailand tours during sunset, and that is through Krabi Sunset Cruises.
They offer a 7 hour, 4 island sunset cruise on a junk boat that looks like a pirate ship. This is the most highly rated tour for all Ao Nang tours on Tripadvisor, with 5 stars and over 2500 reviews.
4 Island sunset cruise itinerary
One of the reasons I think this is the best Krabi sunset tour is because it is very relaxed. Here you are only visiting 4 islands, instead of 7, so there’s more time to hang out and explore the ones that you visit, instead of constantly moving from island to island.
After everyone makes their way to the boat at Railay, the junk boat will take off to cruise towards Koh Ya Wa Sam. At each island, there are options for snorkeling, fishing, swimming, kayaking etc. Of the four islands, Ya Wa Sam is the best for snorkeling.
Next you’ll head to Koh Si where you can continue to enjoy water activities. If the waves are calm, there are even small caves that are accessible via paddleboard.
Chicken Island is the most notable of the 4 islands on the tour, due to the rock formations on one end of the island that resemble a chicken head.
Last on the tour is Poda Island. This island offers incredible sunset views over the Krabi sea that you will enjoy with your dinner feast. But don’t fill up too much because there’s one final opportunity for swimming. This island also features bioluminescent plankton that are visible at night. You can swim or snorkel with the plankton before heading back to Railay and Ao Nang.
Where do they start the Krabi Sunset tours?
All sunset tours will start in either Ao Nang or Railay. Krabi Sunset Cruises offers pick up locations for both Ao Nang and Railay. You will start on a longtail boat, and then join the larger junk boat docked outside Railay Beach. There are no transport options included to get to Ao Nang from other cities, so you will need to make your way to and from the pick up and drop off locations.
Krabi sunset tours cost
The Krabi Sunset Cruises tour costs $112 per person. Other Krabi tours will charge anywhere from $50 – $70, but in my opinion, the higher cost is worth it for the experience.
What is included in the cost?
The tour is about 7 hours long and includes the boat tour, all water equipment from snorkeling to paddle boarding, non-alcoholic drinks and a fully buffet dinner. The dinner is delicious, and even with a full boat there is plenty of food for seconds.
There is a bar onboard for beer and some specialty mixed cocktails. They will usually offer a free drink if you show that you are following them on social media, or post about them to your social media.
Unlike other tours, all national park fees are included in the cost. Some tours do not include these, and while they are a minimal cost, it’s still something that can and should be included in the tour cost.

What I loved about Krabi Sunset Cruises
I found this cruise from the Solo Girl’s Travel Guide and I am so glad I found it. While in Krabi I took two group tours and a private tour. Obviously, a private tour is great because there’s no one else in your space and you have more freedom over what you do. Krabi Sunset Cruises offers a fantastic group tour and overall experience.
The maximum group size is 24 people, which on this size of boat does not feel crowded at all. It’s enough people to create a fun atmosphere without being over the top. Since the cost is a little higher as well, it weeds out obnoxious party people, and has fewer children on board.
With this Krabi sailing cruise, it is very relaxed. You can choose to be as active or as inactive as you want. If you just want to hang out and sunbath on the boat the whole time, no one will stop you. There are also two levels to the boat, so most of the seating area is covered to help limit your sun intake. But you can climb the rope ladder to the upper deck for unblocked views, or for the more adventurous travelers, jump from the top of the boat into the water.
Of course I need to call out the crew. Everyone on board is incredibly friendly. Michael is the tour owner and captain. But the rest of the crew is very engaged to make sure you’re having a great time while on board.
I can’t recommend this tour enough!
