The Kooii Apartments are located right in the heart of the popular Fortitude Valley neighborhood in Brisbane Australia. Here’s an honest review of the good and bad of staying here.
Pros of Booking the Kooii Apartments
The biggest perk of booking a stay at the Kooii Apartments is having your own personal space. Unlike a hotel, you’ll get a full kitchen, living room and even a washer and dryer. However, these apartments have on site building management should any issues arise.
The building has both one bedroom and two bedroom apartments, perfect for families or couples traveling together. The rooms are a good size with plenty of space for lounging and sleeping.
This building also comes with apartment amenities which include a small gym, pool and hot tub, and a large roof deck for hanging out or barbecuing.
This location is right in the heart of the Fortitude Valley neighborhood. There is a train station nearby which also includes a large grocery store. Fortitude Valley also has countless bars and restaurants to try out.
If you are lucky then you may end up with an apartment on a higher floor with unobstructed views of the city. But if not, take the elevator up to the rooftop to enjoy the scenic city views.

Cons of Booking the Kooii Apartments
The cons of the Kooii Apartments are pretty minimal, and nitpicky at best.
This building is split between local residents and short term guests. Because the building is large with a lot of people coming and going throughout the day the elevators are extremely slow, and usually full.
The bathroom is the worst part of the whole apartment and was clearly not designed with function, or women in mind. The overhead lighting is not useful for anyone that wears makeup and the overmount sink is so oversized it’s almost comical. It takes up nearly half the counter leaving very little room for toiletries.
While I can appreciate a large bed, the king sized bed and flanking nightstands are too large for the space, leaving little room to get around the bed or access the closet.
The booking site I used said “private parking available” which I did not realize meant in addition to the cost. I was a little surprised considering this wasn’t clearly stated in the description, only if you went back into the questions section of the site. The Kooii Apartments parking price is reasonable, but still something you need to calculate into the total cost if you plan to have a car. While there is free street parking at night, it is limited with varying hours of when and where you can park, so the secure garage is a better option.

Price of the Kooii Apartments
The Kooii Apartments are an incredible value. I stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment for 5 nights, the week prior to Christmas, and the total came to $500 USD (without parking) for the stay. Nightly parking was an additional $25 AUD per night, so with the exchange rate, it came to $80 USD.
For a secure building, with parking, amenities, and in an area where you can easily walk to bars, restaurants and a grocery store, this is a great value.
Final review of the Kooii Apartments
Whether you’re looking for a long stay apartment or just a short weekend trip, the Kooii Apartments provide everything you need as far as location, safety, cleanliness and value.

I recommend staying in the Fortitude Valley just outside the CBD. It is a vibrant neighborhood that is close to transportation and a 15 minute walk to the ferry terminal. You’ll be more in the mix with locals, and there are busy bars and restaurants throughout the neighborhood.
What is Fortitude Valley like now?
Fortitude Valley is a popular local neighborhood in Brisbane, Australia. On weekends you’ll find crowded restaurants and bars full of patrons. You may see unhoused people in the area, but overall the neighborhood feels safe walking around day or night.
