The Hotel Bo Chattanooga: a Pleasant Surprise in Downtown Chattanooga

The Hotel Bo Chattanooga is a cheap hotel in Chattanooga TN that won’t give you the “ick” while you’re staying there.

About the Hotel Bo Chattanooga

The Hotel Bo in downtown Chattanooga is a recently renovated hotel with retro vibes.  But the most unexpected thing about this hotel is that it’s actually a Days Inn Property.  You would never know by looking at it or by the experience, so the brand has obviously come a long way since being purchased by Wyndham.

The amenities at this hotel were truly surprising given the nightly price.  I might expect a budget hotel in Chattanooga Tennessee to have one of these amenities, but not all of them. 

Dining & Drinks

Inside the reception they have a small market area to buy packaged food and drinks.  There’s even a microwave if you need to heat anything up.  Here they also provide free coffee and tea.  And in the mornings, there is a selection of free muffins for breakfast. 

Adjacent to the reception is The Downtowner, their “bistro & bar”.  Bistro is definitely a nice way to describe it.  It’s essentially an bar with seating that opens directly out into the courtyard via an open garage door.  They offer breakfast Tuesday to Sunday from 7-11am, and serve a selection of appetizers during bar hours from 4-10pm Tuesday through Sunday.  

There is seating in the courtyard that is open to anyone, so if you want to order in delivery and eat outside you can enjoy this area without purchasing anything at the bar. 

Wellness

The hotel has a small sized heated pool centrally located on the property.  I stayed in late spring so the pool was used mostly by children, so it was definitely more a family friendly pool than a chill and enjoy the vibes situation.  

Just across from the reception there is a fitness center.   This is a fairly small gym, but still large enough to have multiple treadmills, a stationary bike and other small equipment.  Plus a mini fridge with bottled water.  

Parking

Parking is available at the hotel, with spaces that wrap around the hotel so you can park closer to your room.  I believe it is free, but as I did not have a car, I can’t confirm. 

Accessibility 

The Hotel Bo Chattanooga has three floors of rooms, including ground level.  There is only one passenger elevator and it can be a bit of a maze to find your room if you happen to be on the complete opposite corner (like I was).  If you have accessibility issues, check to see if there is a first floor room, or at least one closer to the elevator available. 

The hotel rooms

As stated above, this hotel reopened 5 years ago, so it is still updated and mostly well maintained.  The bedroom and sink area were perfectly fine. The bathrooms however were clearly done in haste or by a subpar contractor as you can see the poor craftsmanship with trim and caulking.  But everything I could see was clean, even if poorly installed. 

The hotel offers a king room, double room, or a king suite.  The king suite is a large king room with a connected living room space which includes sleeper sofa.  This is a great option for families with small kids that need extra space. 

Comfort

The Hotel Bo is definitely an improvement on the old Days Inn hotels.  The room was spacious for one, but even with two people it wouldn’t feel tight.  The sink is outside the toilet and shower, which is nice because then there is a large counter and sink available at all times.  And most importantly, my bed was super comfortable. 

Also, there are plugs everywhere around the bed!  They are in the side tables and the lamps.  You don’t have to crawl around, move furniture or stretch to plug in your devices. 

Price

The one thing this Chattanooga Days Inn does that you would expect from the brand, is that they are one of the low cost hotels in Chattanooga Tennessee.  

I stayed in May of 2026 and was able to get last minute rooms around $70 a night, however it is usually around $90-100.  Even their typical price is a great deal considering many of the nearby hotels have a nightly rate that is double that price or more.

Service at Hotel Bo Chattanooga

I stayed at the Hotel Bo two non-consecutive nights (see more on that in my review below). Since each stay was only a single night, there wasn’t much reason for me to interact with any of the staff other than checking in and out of the hotel. 

From my limited interactions, everyone working there is very friendly and looking to make sure you have an enjoyable stay at the hotel and during your time in Chattanooga.

The location

The Hotel Bo is basically right in the heart of Chattanooga’s city center. The hotel sits on the edge of the “West Village” , a development of hotels, bars and shops from the same owner/developer as the Hotel Bo. 

If you continue north, you’ll hit the river and the Tennessee Aquarium.  If you head south, you’ll find the Chattanooga Choo Choo and Southside Historic District. 

Transportation to Hotel Bo Chattanooga TN

If you are car free, good news!  The city of Chattanooga has a free public shuttle service through the downtown corridor with a stop just outside the hotel.  Both the north and south bus routes stop here before continuing in their designated direction.  If you’re not sure which one you need, the drivers are extremely friendly and will make sure you get where you need to be. 

Unfortunately though, public transportation is pretty limited to the city center.  There really isn’t much available to or from the airport.  Despite its rich train history, there is also no train service in Chattanooga. There are no long distance bus services either.  Taxis, ride share services, or rental cars are the options available to get anywhere outside the city center, like the popular cave tours. 

Overall review of the Hotel Bo Chattanooga

I stayed here on two separate nights during my nearly week-long stay in Chattanooga.  The first stay was because I needed to add a night at the beginning of my trip and this was cheaper than my conference hotel. 

Then, while I was in town, I ended up extending my trip one extra day.  Since I was so surprised by my experience on my first night in town, and it was more than half the cost of adding an additional night at the La Quinta Chattanooga, I packed up my bags, hopped on the free bus and checked back in. 

Essentially, my stay was enjoyable enough for me to turn around and go back a few days later.  This hotel is perfect if you want to enjoy a few days in Chattanooga, but don’t want to spend all your money on hotels. I think you get way more value than what you pay for.
